This is an annual CSI initiative conceptualized by Heart FM. Heart FM presenters and staff embark on a 16 day journey across the length and breadth of the province lending a helping hand where needed during Youth Month. The initiative is currently in its second year. Projects include anything from feeding and clothing the less fortunate, to DIY jobs, education and awareness.
Heart FM set out to upgrade and repair playground equipment at the Vrolike Vinkies Creche in Robertson, an Early Childhood Development Centre. The Hilti team joined the Heart FM Crew and repaired and rebuilt the much needed playground equipment. They will also be joining the crew at the Malmesbury branch of Vrolike Vinkies at the end of the week. The Hilti team has also loaned tools to the crew who are on the road and are on standby should they be needed to assist for the rest of the journey.
The initiative identifies projects in communities whereby the teams are able to bring people together to effect change. We also give these communities a platform to voice their concerns, hopes and dreams. The journey allows us to highlight the challenges, big and small, that our communities face on a daily basis and how both you and I can help.

It was such a privilege to be involved in such a worthy initiative. Seeing what impact one individual, with a tool in their hand and the willingness to help, can have on an community that needs assistance is absolutely amazing. Going out to Vrolike Vinkies as a Hilti team did not only give us the manpower and expertise to make a real difference in a short span of time but, it really brought the team together and showed us what teamwork is all about, especially when the only personal gain is the safe functioning playground and the smile on the children’s faces. Giving back to the community has always been part of the Hilti culture and we will continue to do it and be involved in initiatives as amazing as the 16 Days for the Youth by Heart FM.
