How Hilti PS 1000 determining the reinforcing layout and diameter of a first floor reinforced concrete slab
Nyeleti was contracted to perform GPR scans on a dwelling in Johannesburg. The scope of works consisted of determining the reinforcing layout and diameter of a first floor reinforced concrete slab. The client wanted to use this information in alteration to the dwelling.
To determine the reinforcing diameter a 3D scans had to be performed with the PS 200. Due to the reinforcing located in the bottom of the slab the scans had to be perfomed on the soffit of the slab as seen in the picture above.
Our Hilti Solution
The PS 1000 was utelized to map the rebar. The real time data interpretation of the PS 1000 made it easy to display the rebar layout to the client on site. Due to the scan being performed on the soffit of the slab made it very uncomfortable to access the slab.
However, this was made easy due to the light weight of the products combined with the reasonably durable grid sheets that are supplied with the products.
